72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade:
The 72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporozhets is a military formation of the mechanized troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is located in the city of Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region. The brigade was created in 2002 on the basis of the 72nd Guards Mechanized Division, which in turn traces its history to the 72nd Guards Motorized Rifle Division.
Since 2014, the brigade has participated in the war in eastern Ukraine as part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation forces. In the summer of 2014, units of the brigade fought heavy battles on the Russian-Ukrainian border, in the Azov region, and in the winter of 2016 — near Avdiivka in the industrial zone.
In August 2017, the brigade received an honorary name in honor of the military formation of the time of the Ukrainian People's Republic — Black Zaporozhets.
