The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) is a central executive body that ensures the implementation of state policy in the fields of civil protection, protection of the population and territories from emergency situations and their prevention, liquidation of emergency situations, rescue work, fire extinguishing, fire and man-made safety, the activity of emergency and rescue services, the prevention of injuries of a non-productive nature, as well as hydrometeorological activities.

The State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations was formed through the reorganization of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the State Inspection of Man-made Safety of Ukraine. Since April 25, 2014, the activities of the Service have been directed and coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers through the Minister of Internal Affairs.
